Dr. Bethany Warren Hunter Named Next Executive Director/Treasurer of WMUV
On June 1, 2025, the members of the Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) elected Dr. Bethany Warren Hunter to serve as its 5th Executive Director/Treasurer. Bethany is currently an Assistant Principal at Appomattox High School in Appomattox, Virginia, and will begin her tenure with WMUV on July 1, 2025.
Bethany has a long history in WMUV and Virginia Baptist life. Born into the congregation of Providence Baptist Church in Red House, Virginia, she began her WMU journey as a Mission Friend and GA at Sycamore Baptist Church in Franklin, Virginia. As a child, Bethany enjoyed summers at Camp Little CrossRoads. As a teen, she worked as a camp counselor. She earned her B.S. degree from Longwood University and her master's and doctorate in education from the University of Virginia.
“The process to select the next leader of WMUV was time-intensive but brought together a dedicated group of women to select the best candidate to lead the organization into the years ahead,” said Lauren Pillow, Search Team Chair. Bethany is married and has three children. She is an active member of Grace Hills Baptist Church in Appomattox.
Bethany is the daughter of the late Rev. Reggie Warren and Mrs. Lucianne Warren. Growing up in Virginia Baptist life, Lauren contends that “Bethany was selected as that candidate because she is knowledgeable, driven, and has a deep love and appreciation for the organization. WMUV, now moving forward as HerMission creates leaders, empowers women, and mobilizes churches for involvement, and we welcome Dr. Bethany Warren Hunter as its next visionary leader.”
